This training is for law enforcement personnel only.

The cultivation of marijuana indoors utilizing hydroponics has become a multi billion-dollar industry in Canada and the United States. In Canada it has virtually stopped the importation of marijuana, creating a major industry that has been successfully exporting marijuana around the world, and in particular, to the USA. Recent experience indicates the trend in the US is to move from importation and outdoor cultivation to domestic production of indoor marijuana in all jurisdictions and states. With the enormous profits, simple growing techniques and a growing marijuana user population, indoor grow investigations are quickly becoming a part of everyday police work.

This training class is designed to educate all areas of law enforcement, including dedicated drug enforcement investigators, municipal and rural patrol officers, highway patrol officers, community police officers, communty action teams, prosecutors, crime prevention specialists, and asset seizure investigators. Detection of grow sites is difficult but not impossible. Over the past number of years in Canada, we have been involved in thousands of marijuana cultivation investigations.

The more investigations I was involved in, the more I started to see patterns developing, situations that are common to almost every grow site. As a result of this experience, along with the experience of having personally cultivated indoor hydroponic marijuana under license on a number of occasions, I have put together this two day, 16-hour class, to share some of the information with law enforcement in Canada and the USA. Over the past 15 years I have taught the class on over 300 occasions to law enforcement personnel on both sides of the border. The bottom line is that we all need to learn more about indoor marijuana grow investigations so we can locate the grow sites, search and seize evidence, prosecute the growers and make sure we are doing so safely and effectively.

Recent incidents in Canada, including the tragic murder of four RCMP officers during a raid on a marijuana grow operation only go to prove the level of organization and violence increasingly evident during these investigations. I believe that a concerted, dedicated effort, in conjunction with our communities, will result in a pro-active approach to this ever increasing problem in law enforcement. I hope that by attending this class you will be better equipped and educated about indoor grows and that you will be more effective and safe in your enforcement of indoor marijuana cultivation.
